Maroon 5 Begin Work On Fifth Album

Wednesday, 31 July 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Los Angeles hitmakers Maroon 5 have revealed that they’ve begun work on their fifth album and they’re ‘very excited’ to finish some new material.

The band recently postponed their UK and European tour until 2014 and it now seems they’ll have a whole load of material to perform when they finally hit the road next year. Although the follow-up to 2012's 'Overexposed' is still in its early stages, Maroon 5 guitarist James Valentine has revealed that there’ll ‘definitely’ be a couple of ‘amazing songs’ on it!

He told Billboard:

“It's still sort of in the early stages. We definitely have a couple of amazing songs that will be on the record. I think we just really like making music now, and I think we're more prolific than ever. But at the same time it's going to be a while before the record comes out, so maybe some of the stuff we're doing now will fall by the wayside by the time we actually put it out. But we've got some great stuff started, and we're all very excited.”

Continuing on about the record’s sound and style, Valentine said:

“I thought I had a handle on [the sound], but it kind of keeps changing. There was a first batch of songs that seemed like they were darker and maybe a little more organic-sounding, but now there's some other songs that... it's hard to describe, and I think we're going to really find out where it's going in the next few months.”

If you’re a fan of the band, you’ll be ecstatic at the news and probably want to get your hands on tickets for their up-and-coming UK tour before its too late.
