Chris Brown Cancels Canada Gigs

Tuesday, 20 August 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Chris Brown has cancelled four Canadian gigs, due to what are being described by a promoter as ‘personal and health-related issues’.

Brown was set to headline the Energy/Summer Rush Canadian concert series but now, with no main event, the whole series has been cancelled.

Promoters have released a statement about the cancellations, which states that Brown had pulled out due to personal and health problems (he was recently sentenced to 1,000 community service hours for a probation violation, and also suffered a seizure at the start of the month).

“After ongoing conversation and consultation with this year's headline act Chris Brown, and in light of the performer's recent personal and health-related issues, a decision has been made to cancel all four scheduled performances.

“In the absence of a festival headliner, we cannot proceed. We will start planning immediately for next year's events and the Energy/Summer Rush series will be back in 2014, bigger and better than ever.”

Nicole Perna, Brown's publicist, added:

“Chris appreciates the support of his many thousands of fans north of the border. He is going to use this time to focus on himself and on the release of his upcoming album. Chris looks forward to performing in Canada very soon.”

Meanwhile, Brown recently tweeted that his new album ‘X’ could potentially be his last, although he later deleted the offending message. Check out more on that story here.
