Ronnie Wood Band Added To BluesFest 2013 Line-Up

Wednesday, 28 August 2013 Written by Huw Baines

The Ronnie Wood Band have been confirmed to close the latest edition of BluesFest with a tribute to Jimmy Reed.

The group, led by Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, will take the stage at 10pm on November 1, closing four nights of blues at the Royal Albert Hall.

“Jimmy Reed was one of the premier influences on the Rolling Stones and all the bands that love American blues from that era until the present day," Wood said. "It is my honour to have the opportunity to celebrate his life and legacy with this tribute.”

The Ronnie Wood Band join Van Morrison, who will play a solo set and a Bobby Bland tribute show alongside Mick Hucknall, Robert Plant, Natalie Cole, Gregory Porter, Bobby Womack, Tedeschi Trucks and Mavis Staples in headlining, with two slots per evening at 6.45 and 10pm.

Also confirmed to perform are Dr. Feelgood, Cerys Matthews and Huey Morgan, among others, while in the past the festival has hosted BB King, Robert Cray, Dr. John, Jamie Cullum, Booker T, Tom Jones, Erykah Badu and Southside Johnny.
