Melvin Benn: Big Chill Festival Is 'Resting'

Wednesday, 28 August 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Festival Republic chief Melvin Benn has claimed that The Big Chill Festival is ‘resting’, and that he hasn’t retired the event.

The Big Chill was cancelled in 2012 due to difficulties arising from London's hosting of the Olympic Games, but fans were left doubting the festival’s future after it failed to return this year.

It’s now been revealed that there are no plans to revive it for 2014 either, but Benn has reassured punters that the festival is simply ‘resting’, and will hopefully make a comeback in the coming years.

Speaking to Gigwise, Benn explained:

“[There aren’t plans for an event in 2014] at the moment. It's never far from my thoughts and it isn't something that's gone away, but it's definitely resting.”

The Big Chill has been running since 1994 and was bought by Benn’s Festival Republic in 2009. What would you like to see happening with The Big Chill? Leave us a comment in the box below!
