Glasvegas On Label Boot: 'Its Quite a Small Drop in the Ocean'

Glasvegas have hit out at music record labels and music bigwigs, having been dropped by their own label a couple of years ago.
The Scottish indie-rockers made their return this year with their brand new album ‘Later...When The TV Turns To Static’, which hit shelves earlier this week and is currently sitting at #28 in the midweek chart.
They’ve come a very long way since their 2011 record ‘Euphoric Heartbreak’, having parted ways with their label Sony after the album divided opinion and lacked sales - and now frontman James Allan has opened up about the disappointment and difficulty they went through, slamming the higher powers.
Speaking to NME, he said:
“It's quite a small drop in the ocean of all this difficulty or confusion or heartbreak or hurt. It was a long time before 'Euphoric' was written, or recorded, or came out, that the wheels were set in motion. It goes back to things like the Mercurys, and them seeing it as disobedience.
“It's so little to do with music. It's all to do with deals. Glasvegas got a deal and there was never one like it again. Bands that get signed post-Glasvegas are getting shafted in every orifice they've got, man. They never get kept, or signed, because the guy (at the label) actually enjoys a melody. For me to think that it was all because some guy who was probably in fucking M People or something liked the melody or not... that's not really going to kill me.”
