Mumford & Sons And The Vaccines Perform As John Fogerty's Backing Band

Tuesday, 17 September 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Mumford & Sons and The Vaccines pitched in to perform as John Fogerty’s backing-band over the weekend, for a surprise performance in Florida.

The show, which took place in St. Augustine on Saturday September 14, was one of their Mumford & Sons' Gentleman of the Road Stopover gigs and was set to go down in style - until fun. frontman Jack Antonoff came down ill forcing the band to withdraw from the gig following advice from doctors.

Mumford and Sons called their friend John Fogerty to fly in the night before and fill in on the bill, but with no backing band, who would he perform with? Luckily, there was not one, but two world famous outfits on hand to play alongside him, and the crowd were treated to a supergroup show that may never take place again.

First backed by The Vaccines, Fogerty and co. ripped through some performances of  Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fogerty’s former classic rock group - tracks, including Down on the Corner and Fortunate Son, before doing the same with Mumford and Sons then taking on support role.

A lot of footage was captured by fans and we’ve embedded a couple of clips for you to check out below.
