James Blake Postpones US Tour Dates Following Mercury Prize Nomination

James Blake has postponed a number of US tour dates to make way for a stop at the Mercury Prize ceremony instead.
The singer-songwriter had originally pencilled in a relatively lengthy tour of the US, but his second album, ‘Overgrown’, has received a nomination for the Mercury Prize (his second, having been tipped for the 2011 award following his self-titled debut). He’s postponed five of Stateside gigs to attend the prestigious ceremony in London.
The Mercury Prize will be awarded on October 30, meaning that Blake will be taking a week off to fly home and cross his fingers in hope that he picks up the prize. Unfortunately, this means fans that were hoping to attend either his Dallas, Austin, Houston, New Orleans, or Nashville gigs will now have to wait until 2014 to catch the 24-year-old live.
“Due to being nominated (and therefore having to attend) the Mercury Music Awards in London I'm afraid we've had to postpone the following gigs from the Oct/Nov US Tour. The dates will be rescheduled for early next year, sincere apologies to those who bought tickets. Refunds are available and existing tickets are valid for the rescheduled dates TBA.”
Luckily for us UK fans, James is still going ahead with his British tour which kicked off in Glasgow last night. The tour also sees him play shows in Manchester, Birmingham, Oxford, Bristol, and London.
