Boss Of The Warehouse Project 'Devastated' By Death Of Fan

Monday, 30 September 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Sacha Lord-Marchionne - the director of The Warehouse Project - is ‘devastated’ following the death of a fan at an event last week.

On September 27 thousands of fans flocked to Victoria Warehouse for a massive Warehouse Project show, which featured Axwell, Armand Van Helden, No_ID and more. But the night was marred with tragedy, after one fan died and five were taken to hospital after taking what is believed to be a 'bad batch' of ecstasy pills.

The five hospitalised fans aren’t in a serious condition, but the death of one 30-year-old man is a big shock to the venue and its owners, and they’re deeply upset about it. Speaking via a statement, Marchionne said:

“Everyone at The Warehouse Project are absolutely devastated about the news and our condolences are with the man’s family. We put every possible measure and provision in place during the events and work closely with all the authorities in the planning stages to avoid these terrible situations arising.

“The police have suggested that this may be have been the latest of a spate of similar incidents, and be from a bad batch of drugs currently circulating in the North West. Whether you're coming to The Warehouse Project or anywhere else for a night out, we urge people to take care and look out for their friends, and seek assistance as soon possible if you feel unwell.”

Aaron Duggan, a Detective Inspector, told the BBC recently:

“We have now launched an investigation to establish the circumstances leading up to his death. It is possible that there may be a particularly bad batch of drugs out there in the community and that is a concern to us.”
