Elbow's Guy Garvey Says New Album Inspired By 'Midlife Crisis'

Elbow's Guy Garvey has revealed that the band’s new album is inspired by a midlife crisis.
Garvey turns 40 in March next year and the milestone, or perhaps some of the stigma behind it, has been the inspiring force behind the band’s upcoming sixth studio album. He told The Daily Star:
“The record might be called All At Once because you are all ages at once at 40. Society tells you that you have to live in the moment, so you see guys at 40 looking more thoughtful than anyone older or younger.
“Alot of my friends are discovering ecstasy as they near 40 and I'm going: 'What the hell are you doing?' We were on the fringes of the E generation but we didn't get into it. But how does a rock star have a mid-life crisis? Sell his motorbike?”
The as-yet-untitled collection is set to hit shelves on March 10 (a few days after Garvey’s big day) and has been described as ‘experimental’ and ‘very left-field’. Elbow fans have been waiting patiently for new material and tickets for the band's newly announced UK tour are expected to fly out this Friday morning.
