Nirvana, Peter Gabriel And The Replacements Among Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees

Wednesday, 16 October 2013 Written by Huw Baines

Nirvana have been included among the nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Joining the grunge legends on the list for the first time are the Replacements, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, Linda Ronstadt, the Zombies, Link Wray, Cat Stevens and Yes.

Also on the ballot paper are Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, Deep Purple, LL Cool J, Kiss, NWA and the Meters, with the induction ceremony taking place in April.

Nirvana recently reissued their seminal 1993 album 'In Utero' and have landed a nomination at the first time of asking. To be eligible for the Hall Of Fame, it must be 25 years since the release of an artist's debut single or album, with Nirvana's Love Buzz single landing back in 1988.

Fans are able to contribute to the process by voting over at Rolling Stone, USA Today and the official site through until December 10, with the top five acts polled included in the final shake-up as a 'fan's ballot'.
