Dave Grohl Teams Up With Zac Brown Band For 'The Grohl Sessions Vol.1'

Wednesday, 27 November 2013 Written by Huw Baines

The Zac Brown Band have teamed up with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl on a new EP, 'The Grohl Sessions Vol.1'.

Grohl has produced the record, having also donned his producer's cap for Ghost's 'If You Have Ghost' EP, and recently played drums with the band at the Country Music Awards.

Discussing the project, which will be released on December 10, Grohl told Rolling Stone:

"The band is so good they can be tracked live; we didn't fuck with computers, we tracked live, four-part harmonies around one microphone. It's rocking. People are like, 'Oh, it's country.' 'No, it's not, it's like the Allman Brothers.' 'No, it's not, it's jam band.' I don't even know what you would call it, it's fucking great."

Grohl is also working on a new Foo Fighters record and has promised something out of the ordinary. The band recently regrouped to prepare for a December show in Mexico City. He said:

"It’s badass. We’re doing something that nobody knows about, it’s fucking rad. We begin recording soon, but we’re doing it in a way that no one’s done before and we’re writing the album in a way that I don’t think has been done before."
