Iron Maiden LLP - the holding company owned by the heavy metal titans - is one of the UK's latest musical success stories, according to a new report.
The London Stock Exchange report - '1,000 Businesses to Inspire Britain' - has listed the company as one of six music firms that are excelling, along with the likes of Shazam, Kobalt Music Group and Audio Network.
Their inclusion is due the band's expanding fanbase and online presence, which is driven in part by their relentless tour schedule. The band were confirmed as headliners of Sonisphere 2014 on Monday, a show that will conclude their marathon Maiden England venture.
Greg Mead, CEO and co-founder of MusicMetric, told the Guardian:
“Iron Maiden's BitTorrent data suggests Brazil is a huge driver of fans – and given Brazil is one of the biggest file sharing nations on the planet, this is a strong indicator of popularity. With their constant touring, [the] report suggests Maiden have been rather successful in turning free file-sharing into fee-paying fans.
“This is clear proof that taking a global approach to live touring can pay off, and that having the data to track where your fan bases lie will become ever more vital.”
