Justin Bieber has been released on bond following his arrest in Miami.
The 19-year-old pop superstar was picked up by police on Thursday for drunk driving, resisting arrest and driving without a valid licence, the Guardian confirmed, having been accused of drag racing two high performance sports cars with a friend, Khalil Amir Sharieff.
Bieber appeared via video link at his hearing, where bail was granted at $2,500 [£1,500]. The BBC reports that Miami Beach police chief Raymond Martinez said:
"During the investigation Mr Bieber made statements that he had consumed some alcohol, that he had been smoking marijuana and consumed some prescription medication. They were starting from a stop position and they were accelerating to a high rate of speed, going almost double the speed limit...in that area."
