Down Confirm Release of New EP 'Down IV - Part Two'

Friday, 28 February 2014 Written by Elliott Batte

Down have confirmed a May release for the second part of their ‘Down IV’ collection.

The band put out ‘Down IV Part I’ (aka ‘The Purple EP’) in 2012 and will roll out its six track follow up on May 12 through Roadrunner Records. Recorded at Philip H. Anselmo's home studio, Nodferatu's Lair, the EP marks the arrival of guitarist Bobby Landgraf in place of Kirk Windstein.

Anselmo said:

"He was immediately at home. Bobby had always been that guy in case of anything. Knowing his personality, he really locked in with what we do and took it to heart. He made himself belong. Honestly, the first day he came down he contributed a very strong riff to a key song.

"There's that southern element, which is imperative. I also catch a real old heavy metal vibe from this record. I can't stress this enough. He took it all on, and he did a fucking awesome job."

Down have been confirmed to headline Bloodstock Festival this summer, where they will be joined by Emperor, Megadeth, Amon Amarth, Obituary, Crowbar, Hatebreed, Lacuna Coil, Carcass, Prong, Children Of Bodom, Saxon, Decapitated, Flotsam & Jetsam and more.
