Friday, 07 March 2014 Written by Elliott Batte

Live music promotion company MAMA have made the decision to close their Fly Magazine, after almost 15 years of publication.

The Fly MagazineA free monthly publication, The Fly boasted a circulation of over 75,000 copies and was given away free of charge to venues, clubs, arenas, pubs, and everything in between.

However, despite becoming a major name in the music magazine business (even hosting its own awards ceremony), it has now been shut down. It’s owners said in a statement:

“After nearly 15 years of pioneering new music journalism, the owners of The Fly are officially closing the magazine as a result of current market conditions surrounding publishing. We offer gratitude and wish well all the staff and contributors that have allowed us to deliver the UK's longest serving monthly free sheet.

"To the multitude of artists and musicians that have graced our covers, the advertisers and sponsors who have supported us and our loyal readers, we salute you.”
