ArcTanGent Announces 33 New Bands

Tuesday, 25 March 2014 Written by Ben Bland

Bristol based experimental rock festival ArcTanGent has added a mammoth 33 bands to its bill for August 2014. It has also been confirmed that the final headliner, an international act of some repute, will be announced on April 2.

Among the new additions are some of the most impressive names that the festival has attracted to date. Irish post-rock collective God is an Astronaut will be joined by Californian math rock duo El Ten Eleven, Leeds art rock outfit I Like Trains, French post-metallers Year of No Light, Irish post-hardcore act BATS, the highly individual Blueneck and instrumental stoner prog group AstrohengeAlso, returning from last year, are Tall Ships, who packed out the Yokhai Stage last year.

Ric Phethean of Tall Ships said:

“ArcTanGent was without a doubt the best festival we played last year. The atmosphere was buzzing and the crowd was just mental. Really excited to do it all again this year!”

Also new to the line-up are Alarmist, We Are Knuckle Dragger, No Spill Blood, Lost in the Riots, Cleft, Olympians, Shiver, Human Pyramids, Diagonal, Rumour Cubes, Monsters Build Mean Robots, The Winchester Club, Suffer Like G Did, Charlie Barnes, Memory of Elephants, Big Joan, AK/DK, Adding Machine, Samoans, Waking Aida, Wicket, Sleep Beggar, Howard James Kenny, Super Squarecloud and Flies Are Spies From Hell

These new additions join a bill already topped by Russian Circles, playing a European festival exclusive performance, and This Will Destroy You, in a UK festival exclusive performance, as well as the likes of Jamie Lenman, Maybeshewill, Lite and Tera Melos. The Thursday Early Entry night will be headlined by And So I Watch You From Afar and Three Trapped Tigers.

ArcTanGent is the only festival dedicated to post and math-rock. The festival has 70 bands, four stages, three bars and is all at the bargain price of £65 for a weekend ticket. Tickets are selling quickly and are expected to sell out before the festival opens its gates on August 28.

A few more bands are still yet to be announced. For more information, and for tickets, visit arctangent.co.uk. ArcTanGent takes place from August 28 to 30 August 2014 at Fernhill Farm, near Bristol.
