The Leicester indie troupe will join Arcade Fire in topping the bill on the Pyramid Stage, with Saturday night's headliners booked, but yet to be announced.
Emily Eavis, the festival's organiser, said:
“We always take great pride in putting a great British band on to headline the Pyramid and this time it’s Kasabian, who are one of the most requested bands from Glastonbury-goers and an amazing live act. It’s going to be one hell of a show!”
Kasabian are among 87 new acts added to the bill, with Pixies, Jack White, Massive Attack, Elbow, Paolo Nutini, Robert Plant, Disclosure, Manic Street Preachers, Foster The People, Ed Sheeran, Lana Del Rey, London Grammar, Danny Brown, Metronomy, Interpol, the Black Keys, MIA, Skrillex, the 1975 and many more also confirmed.
