Billy Corgan To Release Experimental 'AEGEA' Album

Wednesday, 09 April 2014 Written by Huw Baines

Billy Corgan, frontman of the Smashing Pumpkins, will release 'AEGEA', an experimental double album, in the next "six to eight weeks".

Recorded in 2007, the first pressing of the LP will run to 250 vinyl copies and come "hand numbered and annotated" by Corgan. It's set to be made available online and at Corgan's Madame Zuzu's tea shop in Chicago for $59.95 plus shipping.

Corgan said:

“As a work, 'AEGEA' is experimental in nature, and comes across as more a soundtrack to some lost foreign film than the kind of music I’m usually associated with. Listening back I quite like how 'AEGEA' goes along, as it has qualities that are both meditative and alien; but not alienating.”

Meanwhile, Corgan recently announced that the Pumpkins had signed with BMG and that two new albums, 'Monuments To An Elegy' and 'Day For Night', will arrive next year.
