More To Come From REM's Vaults Following 'Unplugged' Release

REM bassist Mike Mills has promised that there are more rarities to come following the release of the band's double 'Unplugged' set.
The album, which compiles two sessions, from 1991 and 2001, was unveiled for Record Store Day last month and arrived digitally on May 19.
REM split back in 2011, with Mills confirming in an interview with Billboard that they have more archive material waiting to be released when the time is right. He said:
"We have a lot of stuff in the vaults, a fair amount of stuff that's never been released. We all want to do something with this stuff. We know we've got some really good things hanging around. We just want to put them out in a way that makes them as special as possible, because they're special to us. I mean, if we've been sitting on stuff for this long, why go cheap with it now? Let's try to make it be special rather than just dumping out the vaults."
Meanwhile, REM's Peter Buck recently played with Super-Earth, a new band formed with Sleater-Kinney's Corin Tucker. The duo were photographed in the studio with Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, Scott McCaughey of Minus 5, Swans drummer Bill Rieflin and guitarist Kurt Bloch.
UPDATE: REM’s back catalogue has been remastered for iTunes, along with a host of rarities. The songs have been bundled into four packages: ‘Complete I.R.S Studio Albums 1982-1987’, ‘Complete Rarities - I.R.S 1982-1987’, ‘Complete Warner Bros. Studio Albums Vol.1’ and ‘Complete Rarities - Warner Bros. 1988-2011’. For tracklistings, head here.
