Andre 3000 Steps In To Work On New Aretha Franklin Record

Thursday, 26 June 2014 Written by Huw Baines

Andre 3000 has stepped in to work on Aretha Franklin’s forthcoming covers record, which will include her take on songs by Gladys Knight, Tina Turner and Adele, among others.

Billboard reports that the Outkast man has filled a void left by Don Was, who has pulled out due to scheduling issues. He will look after four songs, with Babyface and Daryl Simmons already at work on the album, which is due in September.

“I'm pretty sure it's going to be fun working with [Andre 3000], just watching his videos and things," Franklin said. "It should be fun. And, of course, they all come with great music, so I expect that."

Outkast, meanwhile, will play Wireless and Bestival this summer as they celebrate 20 years since the release of their debut, ‘Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik’.
