Mogwai will play a one-off date at London’s KOKO on July 29 to celebrate the life of sound engineer Julia Brightly, who died in May.
Proceeds from the show will go to the Gendered Intelligence charity, a cause close to Brightly’s heart, with the Twilight Sad also set to appear, along with DJ sets from Andy Hung and Ben Power of Fuck Buttons.
Announcing the show, Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite and Koko’s Daveid Phillips said:
“To say all of us were in shock is a huge understatement. Anyone who knew her from the days of the Mute Drivers to any artists she did sound for, from Mogwai, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Caribou, Fuck Buttons to Slint and her friends and family will all agree she was one of the bravest and most talented people we were lucky enough to call a friend.”
