Promoters Cancel Five-Night Garth Brooks Comeback At Dublin's Croke Park

Tuesday, 08 July 2014 Written by Jon Stickler

Promoters have cancelled all five Garth Brooks concerts planned for Dublin's Croke Park Stadium later this month.

A statement from Aiken Promoters revealed that the five-night residency, dubbed The Garth Brooks Comeback Special, "has been cancelled" and "no concerts will take place".

The full statement from Aiken reads:

"It is with great regret that Aiken Promotions today announce that the 5 concert Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event at Croke Park has been cancelled. No concerts will take place.

The ticket return process will be outlined tomorrow.

Aiken Promotions have exhausted all avenues regarding the staging of this event.

We are very disappointed for the 400,000 fans who purchased tickets for The Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event."

The country and western megastar was due to play at the stadium later this month following frenzied ticket sales earlier this year. About 400,000 fans had booked tickets for the five sold-out concerts, due to take place from July 25 to July 29.

Last week, Dublin City Council granted permission for only three of the five planned concerts, Brooks responded to the move, saying he would play "all or none".
