The Raveonettes Return With Surprise New Album

Tuesday, 22 July 2014 Written by Huw Baines

The Raveonettes have returned with a surprise new album, ‘Pe’ahi’.

The record, the follow up to 2012’s ‘Observator’, was produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen, with Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo hinting that something was up in recent months with several social media posts and the release of Sisters.

You can check out Endless Sleeper below, while Wagner discussed the decision to release the album on the quiet with Drowned In Sound’s Dom Gourlay. He said:

“We've always done things by the rules with every record we've made so far. Announced the date three months or so in advance then spent the lead-up time doing loads of promo and interviews to the point that by the time the record comes out we're already sick of it. I'm so excited about the album coming out and this is the first time I've talked about it. To me that's a golden thing. I think everybody should do it like that. Everything we can do to break down the rules of how the industry works I am all for.”

The duo also have a string of US shows in the diary for this autumn, kicking off in San Francisco on September 22.
