Guided By Voices Split For The Second Time

Friday, 19 September 2014 Written by Huw Baines

Guided By Voices have split for the second time, cancelling a US tour in the process.

Since reforming in 2010, Robert Pollard’s indie legends have released six records - including three in 2012 and two this year -  maintaining the feverish creative pace of the band’s ‘90s heyday. In a short statement, they said:

“Guided By Voices has come to an end. With 4 years of great shows and six killer albums, it was a hell of a comeback run. The remaining shows in the next two months are unfortunately canceled. Our sincere apologies to those that have purchased tickets and made travel plans. Thanks to everyone who has supported GBV.”

Guided By Voices formed in 1983 and initially called it quits in 2004. ‘Cool Planet’, released in May, was their 22nd album.
