The BBC reports that the vocalist, who scored his first hit with My Coo-Ca-Choo in 1973 and rose to #1 with Jealous Mind the following year, had been suffering from metastatic prostate cancer.
Stardust had acted on both stage and television in recent years, having enjoyed a revival in the mid-’80s as I Feel Like Buddy Holly and I Won’t Run Away charted in the UK’s top 10. A new album, his first since 1984, had recently been in the works.
