Jack Bruce Dies Aged 71

Sunday, 26 October 2014 Written by Huw Baines

Jack Bruce, bassist of Cream, has died aged 71.

Alongside his bandmates, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker, Bruce turned the power trio into one of the music world's foremost rock bands, releasing four albums between 1966 and 1968.

In 2005, the band reformed for a run of shows at London's Royal Albert Hall before calling it quits for good. Bruce released 'Silver Rails', his 14th solo record, in March of this year.

In a statement, his family said: "It is with great sadness that we, Jack's family, announce the passing of our beloved Jack: husband, father and granddad and all-round legend. The world of music will be a poorer place without him, but he lives on in his music and forever in our hearts."
