Young Fathers have won the Mercury Prize for ‘Dead’.
Released back in February, the record saw off competition from FKA Twigs, the bookies' favourite, Kate Tempest, East India Youth, Anna Calvi, Bombay Bicycle Club, Nick Mulvey, GoGo Penguin, Jungle, Damon Albarn, Polar Bear and Royal Blood to succeed James Blake, who took home last year’s prize for his second album ‘Overgrown’.
The Scottish alternative hip-hop trio accepted the £20,000 award from Nick Grimshaw at London’s Roundhouse on Wednesday night. Head here to check out our review of 'Dead'.
Meanwhile, Young Fathers were recently added to the bill for Wire's Drill: Brighton event, which will take over multiple venues in the city in December.
