Independent Venue Week will return in 2015 with Frank Turner on board as the event’s ambassador.
The folk-punk star has taken over from Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood, while the programme has been expanded to include 85 venues.
Gigs will run between January 26 and February 2, with Turner set to play two - one at the site of his first show, 93 Feet East - and Peace, Seth Lakeman, Andrew Weatherall, White Fence, Edwyn Collins, the Subways, the Blockheads and Frankie & The Heartstrings also set to appear.
Turner said: “It’s great to see Independent Venue Week back again for a second year and with so many more venues taking part. There’s been so much support recently for the work these places do and opportunities they offer young and more established artist. It’s vital we all celebrate their existence during Independent Venue Week and do what we can to support them so they are still around for years to come.”
Further support for the event will come from Arts Council England, PRS for Music, UK Music and The Musicians’ Union, while more information is available here.
