Green Day, Lou Reed, Joan Jett, Ringo Starr To Be Inducted Into Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

Green Day, Lou Reed, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and Bill Withers are among the artists set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.
Joining them on the list are Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, while Ringo Starr and the 5 Royales will received awards for Musical Excellence and Early Influence respectively.
The ceremony will be held on April 18 at Cleveland's Public Hall, with Green Day inducted at the first time of asking. Their debut EP, ‘1,000 Hours’, was released by legendary punk label Lookout! in 1989. Billie Joe Armstrong told Rolling Stone:
“I was talking to [bassist] Mike [Dirnt] and we were trying to figure it out. The first thing that we put out was in 1989 and he was 16 years old. I'd just turned 17. We were still in the middle of puberty for God's sake. The fact that we kept on hanging on to this thing we believe in for so many years is incredible. It's unique that we started so young. It's almost freakish. We were weird little kids. We got to be weird together and create this thing called Green Day for so many years...literally, what a strange trip.”
