PREMIERE: Tom Williams Returns With Stripped Back 'New Guitar' Cut Oh Boy

You may have stumbled across Tom Williams before. Probably with his band, The Boat, where his rough-edged folk has traditionally found a home. But, inspired by a new guitar, the singer-songwriter’s latest project is a stripped-back affair that finds him going it alone for a while.
Recorded with Ian Grimble at his Crouch End studio last year and featuring contributions from Boat bandmate Ant Vicary, Sarah Maycock, Fiona Keeler and Catherine Black, the songs on ‘New Guitar’ blossomed after Williams got his hands on a ‘71 Martin acoustic. “As soon as I got it home songs started falling out of it,” he said.
Set to be released after a PledgeMusic campaign, the EP highlights the traditional vein of acoustic songwriting that has run through Williams’ work. Here, we’re excited to premiere Oh Boy, while you can catch him on tour later this month, including a launch show at London’s Lexington.
