Porcaro joined Toto in 1984 and remained a member until 2000, when he was forced to stop touring due to health problems. Porcaro suffered from motor neurone disease. His brother, Steve Porcaro, released a statement via Facebook:
"Our brother Mike passed away peacefully in his sleep at 12:04 AM last night at home surrounded by his family. Rest in peace, my brother."
