PREMIERE: Dodge Bouncers With The Wave Pictures In Their Video For The Fire Alarm

Thursday, 19 March 2015 Written by Huw Baines

The Wave Pictures’ return earlier this year was a case of old meeting new. ‘Great Big Flamingo Burning Moon’ delivered yet more idiosyncratic, hook-rich indie-pop but arrived co-written and recorded with one of the band’s heroes: the prolific, utterly individual Billy Childish.

Tucked towards the end of the record’s running order is the fuzzy stomp of The Fire Alarm and we’re very happy to premiere the song’s video below. A tale of booze-soaked endeavour and fun-bashing bouncers, the clip arrives courtesy of Hot Gulp, who had this to say:

“It was inspired by a Death Cab for Cutie video which see Lance Bangs ejected from a gig and running round backstage. We had the idea of three people trying repeatedly to get into a Wave Pictures concert but their efforts being thwarted by an over zealous bouncer. It was a kind of Tom and Jerry set up with the attempts becoming more and more far fetched…”

Meanwhile, The Wave Pictures will preface sets at Cloudspotting and Green Man with a couple of headline shows this summer. First up, they’ll head to Tufnell Park and The Dome on June 18, with a stop at Brighton’s Green Store Door inked in for June 27.

The Wave Pictures Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows:

Thu June 18 2015 - LONDON Dome Tufnell Park
Sat June 27 2015 - BRIGHTON Green Door Store
