Ceremony To Return With 'The L-Shaped Man' In May

Thursday, 26 March 2015 Written by Huw Baines

Ceremony will release ‘The L-Shaped Man’ through Matador on May 18.

The record is the follow up to ‘Zoo’ and finds them heading further down the post-punk wormhole in the wake of a recent break-up for frontman Ross Farrar. Guitarist Anthony Anzaldo said:

"We've always tried to be minimalists in writing, even if it's loud or fast or abrasive. It's really intense when I hear it. Not in a  way where you turn everything up to 10. Things are so bare, you're holding this one note for so long and you don't know where it's going. To me, that's intensity.”

The album was produced by John Reis, of Rocket From The Crypt and Drive Like Jehu, with Farrar adding:

"A lot of the content has to do with loss, and specifically the loss of someone who you care deeply about. There is no way for you to go through something like this artistically and not have really strong emotions of loss and pain. There's not really any way to hide that."

You can check out The Separation and The Understanding below, while Ceremony will play Visions Festival in London on August 8.
