Sweet Baboo Announces Headline London Show And New Album 'The Boombox Ballads'

Sweet Baboo has announced a headline show and details of his new album, 'The Boombox Ballads'.
Stephen Black, aka Sweet Baboo, will release his fifth LP on August 14 through Moshi Moshi. Check out the artwork above and the video for his new single, Sometimes, below. The track will be released May 18. Discussing it, Black said:
“It’s a simple song in two parts. Instrumentally, the verses are kept simple to draw the attention to the voice. Lyrically, the verses rely on the often-used subject of being away from your loved one.
"The discordant strings are a nod to Van Dykes Parks, and musically the unfinished feel of the production is trying to emulate ‘Smiley Smile’ and ‘Wild Honey’ by the Beach Boys."
To launch his new album, SweetBaboo will play London Fields Brewery on May 21. He will be accompanied by an all new band and string quartet. Sweet Baboo also plays Focus Wales Festival on April 23 and Green Man Festival in August.
