Florence + The Machine will headline Glastonbury in place of Foo Fighters, who have been forced to pull out due to Dave Grohl’s recent injury.
The Foos’ cancellation was confirmed last night, with organisers moving quickly to promote Florence Welch and band to the headline slot following the recent release of their third album, ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’.
In a statement, Emily Eavis said:
“Once we heard the sad news that Foo Fighters had been forced to pull out, there was only one person we wanted to call and that was Florence. Every time she has played here she’s done something spectacular and we always knew she would headline the Pyramid one day. I’m delighted she’s agreed to step up to it – she’s going to smash it!”
Glastonbury will head to Worthy Farm between June 24 and 28, with Kanye West and The Who also set to headline.
