Former Motorhead Drummer Phil Taylor Dies Aged 61

Friday, 13 November 2015 Written by Laura Johnson

Former Motörhead drummer, Phil 'Philthy' Taylor, has died aged 61.

Taylor was part of the first classic Motörhead line up, which consisted of Taylor, Lemmy and Fast Eddie Clarke. He was sticksman for the band from 1975 to 1984 and 1987 to 1992, recording one live and 10 studio albums with them.

It was Clarke who broke the news to fans via Facebook yesterday afternoon, following which the band posted a tribute, also on Facebook, both of which can be read below.

My dear friend and brother passed away last night. He had been ill for sometime but that does not make it any easier...

Lil' Philthy...he who once shouted 'stop wincing about' on an album...he who fueled many a young boy's punk/metal...
