David Bowie Dies Aged 69

David Bowie has died aged 69.

The legendary British artist and musician passed away yesterday following an 18 month battle with cancer. A statement, which you can read in full below, was released on his official Facebook page an hour ago. The news comes just days after Bowie celebrated his 69th birthday and released his 25th studio album, 'Blackstar'.

Bowie had a career spanning four decades and was known for his innovative music and style, in particular his androgynous alter ego Ziggy Stardust. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and enjoyed an illustrious career right up until his death. 

Following the news of his passing Rough Trade have announced that all profits from Bowie sales throughout January will be donated to Cancer Research UK.
