Michael C. Hall To Perform David Bowie 'Blackstar' Track At Mercury Prize Ceremony

Monday, 12 September 2016 Written by Laura Johnson

Michael C. Hall will perform Lazarus, from David Bowie's 'Blackstar' album, at the Mercury Prize.

The Dexter actor plays the lead in Lazarus, a play inspired by Walter Tevis' novel The Man Who Fell To The Earth, which opens at London's King's Cross Theatre on November 8.

The announcement arrives alongside the news that Bowie's final recordings will be released on October 21 as part of 'Lazarus Cast Album'. The record will combine interpretations of Bowie’s songs from the off-broadway show along with three tracks - No Plan, Killing A Little Time and When I Met You - the late artist recorded with Tony Visconti,  Donny McCaslin and his quartet, the same band that played on his last LP, ‘Blackstar’.

The Mercury Prize, meanwhile, will be hosted by Shaun Keavney and will take place at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London on September 15 and also feature performances from the 1975, Skepta, Laura Mvula and Bat For Lashes, among others. Tickets are on sale now, with prices starting from £35.00, plus fees. Head here for more information.
