Thao & The Get Down Stay Down's Thao Nguyen Shares '30 Days, 30 Songs' Track Before You Vote

Monday, 17 October 2016 Written by Laura Johnson

Thao & The Get Down Stay Down vocalist/guitarist Thao Nguyen has shared Before You Vote.

The track was written as part of the 30 days, 30 songs project, which features songs "written and recorded by artists for a Trump-free America". So far there have been contributions from Death Cab For Cutie, Aimee Man, Bhi Bhiman, My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James, Franz Ferdinand and James Ritter.

Introducing the track, Thao said:

The verses are a kind of dazed appeal to those who might vote for him. I'm trying to understand why, because I think he is a monstrous sore of a liability. By the time I hit the choruses I've worked myself into a frenzy considering his candidacy. I believe it is important to have an outlet for panic and irate disbelief.

*This song was written and recorded before the bus clips surprised no one.
** Please vote.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco-based band released their fourth studio album, 'A Man Alive', in March via Ribbon Music. Check out the video for Astonished Man, lifted from it, below.
