Unreleased Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Track Gainesville Released

A further unreleased Tom Petty song has been unveiled from the forthcoming collection 'An American Treasure'.
The career-spanning rarities box set is out on September 28 and marks the first posthumous release since the legendary singer-songwriter's passing on October 2 last year, aged 66.
According to Stereogum, Gainesville dates from 1998 and the sessions that would eventually yield the Heartbreakers album ‘Echo’. The ode to his hometown is, in the finest Petty tradition, a sweet, sweet jam with a killer middle eight and some nice work from pianist Benmont Tench.
