Posthumous Leonard Cohen Album 'Thanks For The Dance' Due For Release In November

Friday, 20 September 2019 Written by Helen Payne

A posthumous Leonard Cohen album has been announced.

‘Thanks For The Dance’ is a collection of new material that continues the legendary songwriter’s final work with help from his son, Adam Cohen, along with touring member Javier Mas, Damien Rice, Leslie Feist, Beck, Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire, Bryce Dessner of the National, composer Dustin O’Halloran, the Cantus Domus choir, the Stargaze orchestra and more.

The record will arrive on November 22. Its lead single, The Goal, is a poignant, poetic tale that manages to capture some of the essence of Leonard Cohen’s inimitable presence with gorgeous, subtle instrumentation accompanying the gruff, low vocals. It'll follow up Cohen's 2016 album 'You Want It Darker', which arrived just before his death.

‘Thanks For The Dance’ tracklisting:

  1. Happens to the Heart
  2. Moving On
  3. The Night of Santiago
  4. Thanks for the Dance
  5. It's Torn
  6. The Goal
  7. Puppets
  8. The Hills
  9. Listen to the Hummingbird
