Athlete are set to return to the studio this week to begin working on their next album, which they say will have more of an electronica influence.
The Deptford four will head into their purpose built studio to start laying down ideas for the follow-up to last years 'Tourist'.
Bassist Carey Willetts said, "We've already spent a bit of time together working on songs and everybody's been writing at home, so we'll be able to get started straight away on those ideas." There was also an hint as to the future direction of the band, he added: "We've all been listening to a lot more electronic music and I think that influence will definitely come across in the new record. But, at the same time, we want it to sound very live too." "It feels like there's a lot of really inspiring things around us at the moment - we saw Radiohead a couple of nights ago and that was just stunning. "
"Of course, until we start recording, we won't know exactly what shape the album will take, but that's actually what's so exciting about this point. We just can't wait to get started. "
Carey is also looking forward to getting in to their purpose build studio, which is set to be completed today, he said "Everything is already set up, it's just a case of making sure that the connections all work. Once all that's all done, we can literally go in, press record and start playing. "
