Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder Releases First Single Long Way From Forthcoming Solo Album 'Earthling'

Eddie Vedder has released the first track from his forthcoming solo album.
'Earthling' is due for release via Vedder's own Seattle Surf imprint through Republic, though an exact date, along with artwork and a tracklist, is still to be revealed. It marks the Pearl Jam frontman's collaborative debut with Grammy Award-winning producer Andrew Watt.
As a preview, the Tom Petty-channeling Long Way, an emotion-fuelled, guitar-driven number has been shared, which features Watt on guitar and bass, former Red Hot Chili Peppers member Josh Klinghoffer on guitar and piano, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith on drums. Furthermore, it will also be released via Pearl Jam's online shop as a special limited-edition 7" single backed with another new song, The Haves.
The news follows hot on the heels of Vedder's collaboration with Glen Hansard on eight songs for the soundtrack accompanying Sean Penn's film Flag Day.
Pearl Jam will perform for the first time in three years on September 18 at the Sea.Hear.Now Festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Following that, the 56-year-old will play solo and with Pearl Jam at his annual Ohana Festival in Dana Point, California.
The band, who put out 'Gigaton' in 2020, will play embark on a rescheduled European tour throughout summer 2022. Their huge London shows as part of BST Hyde Park have also been moved to next July due to COVID-19.
