Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has had his debut album leaked online, weeks before its official release date.
'The Eraser' is the singer's first solo effort, and is due for release on July 10th, but fans are downloading the album early after it appeared on online peer-to-peer filesharing networks, and bit torrent sites.
Promotional copies of the album had recently been sent out to journalists, but it appears that one has slipped through the normal vetting procedures of Yorke's record label and found its way in to the wrong hands.
Although it has now leaked much earlier than normally anticipated, the most die-hard of Radiohead fans will be happy to be able to listen to the album before being able to legitimately purchase the music when it is officially released.
There as been no comment from Yorke, or the record label XL Recordings, but it is not expected to interfere with the albums official release date.
'The Eraser' was produced by longtime Radiohead collaborator Nigel Godrich.
Yorke said of the album, "Inevitably it is more beats and electronics, but it [is] songs."
"The elements have been kicking round now for a few years and needed to be finished and I have been itching to do something like this for ages," he continues.
"It was fun and quick to do." One track, "Black Swan," will run over the end credits of director Richard Linklater's upcoming film, "A Scanner Darkly."
