ImageGreen Day have officially began work on the follow-up to 2004's 'American Idiot'.

The band revealed the good news on their official website offering further information next week.

The message reads: ""Billie, Mike and Tre are back from summer vacations working hard on new material for the next Green Day album. Stay tuned for more news next week."

'American Idiot' proved hugely successful for the US rock band, reportingly shifting 13 Million copies worldwide and picking up a Grammy for the band.

yo yo i lurvve green day (tee-hee-hee) and i hope there next album wont be like american idiot and i know that i talk for a lot of peolple when i say that theyre new "style" sux and that they were much better in like the 90's 
they promised that they would never get old but with their new "punk" style they ARE GETTING OLD!!!!! they USED to be PUNK but now they are not i still love them with all of my heart lol
