Like Broken Social Scene’s first album, Feel Good Lost, this is music born in the basement the 13 tracks on Spirit If... were culled from a large catalogue of songs recorded by Ohad Benchetrit at his house over the past two years, during those precious hours when BSS were off the road and Benchetrit’s kid was at daycare. (The end results were produced by Benchetrit, Charles Spearin both from Do Make Say Think and Drew.)
