the-measuresLets start off on a conclusion. The Measures are one of the best relatively unknown bands we know of. Their unique brand of progressive 21st century rock'n'roll deserves the band a worthy recognition. While I'm at it 'Would You Like A Cigarette?'.

Despite releasing just two singles via small underground label Radiotones, maybe only God knows why a major hasn't come in yet, The Measures are undoubtedly the finished article.
Not jagged around the edges, like you would expect from an unsigned artist that is ready to be moulded into the shape of a record buying public's requirements. The Measures are already here just waiting to be added to your record collection.

'Circus Town' opens with an highly polished intro, with the chuckles of laughter and chatting in the background, an opening similar to Stereophonics' Devil. 'Do you think your friend might like a cigarette?' resonates throughout the song, in a hypnotic kind of way. By the end of the song, you start wondering. 'Hey, maybe my friend would like a cigarette.'

themeasures This band are hard to classify, or compare, they have a unique style of their own, but my ears are happy still. On new track 'Mathematics', a slightly Pink Floyd 'esque outthere style song, the band come to into their own. 'Towards The Sun' is equally impressive and so is the production, and on 'Prayer No. 1' the band seem to do their Oasis/Charlatans thing, and it's really damn good. If you can think Pink Floyd, Oasis and Stereophonics LSVO-era all rolled into one, then we're close. There is a grit and raw determination in the vocals. The band are going somewhere and boy do they know it.

The Measures have already had some nice stuff said about them. But all the nice words doesn't make up for the fact that Paul Hollingsworth voice is more undiscovered than underrated.

You probably don't know this but the band are Paul Hollingsworth on Vocals. Paul "PW" Williams on Guitar. Jimmy 'James' Taylor on Bass Guitar and Simon Prockter on Drums.

The Measures are without a doubt a band waiting to be discovered, not just be a major label but also by a major worldwide fan base. Discover them today. Worship them tomorrow. See them headline a major UK festival by the end of the decade.

Turn your speakers up to full blast and check out the bands myspace to listen to the tracks.
