Stereophonics homecoming gig at Cardiff Castle on October 3rd sold out this morning in less than 40 minutes.
Hundreds, possibly thousands, of fans were left disappointed after queuing all morning only to be confronted with the dreaded sold out message.
The Cardiff Castle venue holds a 10,000 capacity licence and See Tickets, who provided the fulfilment for the gig, could not keep up with the unprecedented demand for tickets as users were left refreshing a queue page - which ultimately proved futile.
The gig is the first time the band as returned to the venue since their ground breaking show back in 1998.
Tickets for the one-off show in October were frozen at their June 1998 prices, at a respectable £12.50 + booking fees.
Stereophonics return to the scene in November with their seventh studio album, 'Keep Calm and Carry On', which is set to be released on November 16th. A full Stereophonics UK Arena tour, we understand is currently in the pipeline - and should be announced in the next few weeks.
Tickets for the Cardiff Castle show will surely appear on the secondary market, they've already started appearing on Ebay for £100 a ticket. Based on demand, tickets are expected to sell for an average of £60 a ticket.
