The Brand New Heavies; the UK’s favourite soul/funk-mongers, are back! They’ve confirmed a November 2009 UK tour with the Brand New album ‘Live in London’ released on Oct 5th. Click here for tickets.
The band with a name inspired by the blurb on a James Brown single have returned a few times in recent years. They came back in 2006 with their album ‘Get Used to it’ featuring the single ‘I Don’t Know Why’ mixed by disco pioneer Tom Moulton. They came back a bit more in 2006, just to be sure, with a soundtrack on the Pixar film ‘Happy Feet’, then in 2008 they came back again with their live CD ‘Live at the Indigo2’.
Now, in 2009, they’re back once more with a new album and a tour, which means they never really went away or I don’t know what I mean by ‘come-back’. Either way, they’re here and that’s what matters. Also, N’Dea Davenport, who definitely went somewhere, is back on vocals. Hooray!
The UK tour:
Nov 02 - Cambridge Junction
Nov 04 - London O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire
Nov 07 - Southampton Soul Cellar
Nov 08 - Manchester Academy
Nov 09 - Liverpool, The Mask
Nov 11 - Bristol Metropolis
