There’s clearly some strange 1980s time cock-up going on at the moment. The fashion keeps popping up on youths and celebrities whilst music keeps turning 80s out of nowhere. Something’s wrong. Doctor Who needs to be informed. There were a few plus points to the 80s, like level 42, but they never really went away. They just hid until the decade got less embarrassing. They’re back now. Pop-tastic, funkadelic and nicely jazzy, Level 42 had something for everyone, as long as everyone liked Level 42 songs. Back in the day, they broke the charts with such songs as ‘Running in The Family’ and ‘Lessons for Love’
They kept going through to the 1990s though had some troubled times, including the departure of Phil and Boon Gould and the untimely death of Alan Murphy. They eventually split up in 1994 at the end of their ‘Forever Now Tour’. Mark King took his slap base solo for a few years and, to cut a long story, various things happened and the band reformed in 2001.
